Abby

22 Aug 2007 – 14 July 2025

We said good bye to our precious Abby just one month shy of her 18th birthday. Sadly, at nearly 18, old age caught up to her rather quickly at the end. While it was heartbreaking to see her aging, we loved her through it all. We gave her a peaceful, calm and loving farewell as we said good bye in the comfort of her home. As we savoured our final days with her, we loved her as much as humanly possible and we reflected on so many memories. She was a princess through and through, so much so that saying her name once wasn’t enough…she needed more emphasis and charm so we often called her Abby Abby Abby. It made us giggle and so did she.

Abby was never sick; she was a healthy girl who ate the best foods and was well traveled! She made us laugh daily with her cute little antics and would still run and bite at our ankles full of excitement for her treat after she peed outside. She would steal a bite from our ice cream when she could and was diligent at the puppy dog eyes every night at dinner… because she always got the last bite. It always felt wrong being apart from her so we included her in everything we could including breweries, wineries, restaurants with outdoor seating, the beach, even a hot air balloon festival. She loved golf cart rides at the cottage and boat rides with the wind in her face. She was an experienced kayaker and even sat well on the paddleboard. She accompanied us on bike rides and the e-bikes and we even had a backpack for her to come hiking with us. She was on several airplanes, a ferry boat to Newfoundland, had her own car seat as owner of the center console in the truck. Despite having her very own camping chair, she always wanted one of ours. She had a stroller for those longer walks as she got older and multiple beds in every room of the house. She brought us so much love and joy, there just wasn’t anything we wouldn’t do for her. She visited every single province except PEI. We even contemplated making a last-minute trip to have that experience with her.

It’s hard without her. No longer peering out the glass of the door when we arrive, no longer chasing our ankles for treats, no longer ready for endless kisses. We miss our sweet baby girl. She will always be our pride and joy. She has the prime spot now on the coffee table with the décor of the season surrounding her beautiful urn, framed photos, and her princess bed remains. Abby, although we are a bit lost without you and the house is very empty, we continue to look for your visits in the clouds and light up when we see you! Keep visiting us so that our hearts can mend. We love you forever, our baby you’ll always be.

Rylee

September 23, 2010 – August 15, 2025

Rylee’s Life and Personality

Rylee, a spirited little Corgi, arrived as the smallest member of the litter, overlooked by others but cherished by his human family. Despite his size, Rylee’s personality was immense—his attitude was matched only by his unwavering love. He adored his human dad above all, with his mum a close second, and his extended family also benefited from his affection. Rylee was pampered with treats, toys, special bowls, and countless ear and belly rubs.

As a puppy, his energy was boundless, marked by speedy zoomies and long walks. Though he didn’t care much for other animals, he shared a special bond with Feather, a long-legged companion who he loved to race alongside on trails. Sandy, the neighborhood poodle, was another of Rylee’s cherished friends, and he enjoyed their visits. The household cats were tolerated but loved in his own special way.

Rylee had a passion for travel and possessed a sixth sense for upcoming car trips, always ensuring he was first to the vehicle, whether for a quick run to the store or a family vacation. On his very first walk, he became so tired he had to be carried home—a moment that came full circle in his fifteenth year, when, after enjoying gentle strolls, short zoomies and rolls in the grass, he again needed help to return home. True to his breed, Rylee loved to herd and play, remaining a loyal and loving companion to his family until the end. As Rylee crosses the Rainbow Bridge, our family wishes for him to run and play with his furry friends, just as he did in his youth knowing we will someday meet again.

Missed and loved by his human dad and mum,
John and Kim. XO

Sergeant

Our boy Sergeant is profoundly missed by his human parents and cat sister, Miss Miss. We got 15 years of silliness and love with him. He will forever be in our hearts and missed deeply.

To our sweet old man: I hope you are somewhere with all of the plants to crunch on, unlimited fluffy blankets to cuddle and plenty of string to play with.

“If love alone could have kept you here, you would’ve lived forever.”

Love always,
Katie and Craig

Caesar

To our dearest Caesar, the goodest of the good boys. You brought us so much joy and love, and for that, we can’t thank you enough. We will cherish the memories fondly. The house is so quiet now, but it gives us comfort to know that you’re in a safe place, without pain, playing fetch and having all the tuna, peanut butter, and cheese that your heart desires. We will see each other again, but until then, please continue to watch over us.

On t’aime beaucoup, notre beau Caesar! Jeff + Sylvie xo

Rita

Rita (aka P, Rita P, and Peter) was an amazing tuxedo cat. She came into my life 16 years ago as a stray living in the woods behind Midtown Deli in Jacksonville, Florida. She used to come out of the woods each evening to be fed deli meat by the staff after closing. They named her Margarita because of her green eyes. When my friend opened the passenger door of his truck one evening, she hopped right in. And she’s been mine ever since.

She moved with me from Florida to North Carolina, then to British Columbia. During her apartment years she loved sitting in windows and grazing on cat grass on the balcony, sometimes talking to the neighborhood crows. She was playful well beyond the kitten phase and could jump high into the air for toys, and engage in a fierce tug-of-war with a piece of string. Though she was never a lap cat, she liked to sit behind our heads on the couch, rubbing her face in our hair and sometimes even biting it! I loved it when she would lie near my belly during my pregnancy, and she could often be found sleeping in our son Eamon’s crib when he wasn’t in it.

Shane promised her that one day she would have her own backyard and that dream was realized when we moved to New Brunswick. Her golden years were spent lying in the sun in the backyard, eating grass, and roaming her territory. She was adored by our son Eamon, who sadly missed out on her most playful years, but nevertheless was able to elicit some frisky moments. I miss the smell of her fur, the vibrations of her purr machine, the way she would jump up on the bed and flop down next to my head to start each night. I miss seeing her curled up in a perfect ball of black, with a tuft of white fur peeking out at her chest. I miss the simplicity of our relationship, the unconditional love, the knowing that when I came home, she would be there. There will never be another Rita cat. June 12, 2008 (observed) – July 17, 2025.

Chloe

“How lucky are we to have someone who makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Our sweet girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge May 31st, 2025.

Chloe left this world just as she lived in it—bravely, beautifully, and with her spark still glowing. Pain-free, wrapped in love, full of sass, and absolutely still the boss.

Chloe had the farewell she deserved—one filled with dignity, warmth, and unconditional love. She passed peacefully at home, in the arms of her Mamas, surrounded by her Brother Bear and two sissies, Lexi and London, who loved her fiercely. Our hearts are shattered, but we take comfort in knowing she’s now running free with her fur friends who passed before—still in charge, still unforgettable.

When Chloe was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, we knew our time with her would be far shorter than we had hoped. In the week leading up to her passing, we made sure every day was filled with the things she loved most—her favourite foods, the salty breeze at the beach, visits from her favourite people, and an endless supply of kisses and cuddles.

Chloe was a force—fierce, funny, full of love and a legendary amount of sass. Despite a rough start in life, she had a one-of-a-kind spirit: bold, stubborn, tender, and absolutely hilarious. She could level you with a side-eye and melt you with a glance. There will never be another soul quite like hers.

Some of her greatest hits: destroying a couch down to the springs, ripping a baseboard heater from the wall, standing up to a bear, executing numerous (and legendary) escapes, hiding a Fitbit in her jowls for days, and sitting on literally everyone. Pure Chloe, unapologetic and iconic!

When Chloe and Lexi gained a new sister in London, we worried about turning a duo into a trio—but they quickly became inseparable. Our girls found their rhythm and became each other’s best friends. Lexi and London will miss her deeply but will carry on the chaos in her name.

Chloe was loved beyond measure and will be missed every single day. Life was brighter with her in it, and we are forever grateful for the 9 years we had with her. We will carry her spirit and all the happiness, love, and sass she gave us always.

Run wild, sweet girl. You were everything.

Fundy

September 8, 2015 – May 31, 2025

Loved by: Brad Colbourne & Jessica Newman, as well as everyone who knew her

Nicknames: Funders, Ders, Dersums, Monkey, Monk, Monkin (half monkey, half pumpkin)

Interests: Her Mom & Dad’s every move, walks and off leash runs, swimming (especially at Spednic lake), road trips, playing toss, chewing on sticks, sunbathing on the porch, head and neck scratches, giving face licks, rooting around in her toy basket (her favourites were the crunchy and squeaky toys and the “monstrosity,” a collection of strung-together toys).

What we miss about her most: Good morning kisses. Couch cuddles. Her best original smell. Sleeping with her every night. The little barks she made when she was asleep, and the cute dino sounds she made when she yawned. The way she could always sense when something was wrong and comforted us. Our neighbourhood walks. Having a furry travel buddy. Being greeted so enthusiastically every time we come home. Her kind nature with people and other pets.

Fundy will be remembered as the bestest girl in the whole wide world. We’ll miss her dearly and will love her forever.

Chiquita

Chiquita (Chicky mama) gave me 16.5 years of unconditional love. She was by my side her whole life. She was stubborn, independent and feisty. We miss you dearly Chicky, you will always be remembered and talked about often. Love you girl, Marie & Trevor

Charlie

After what felt like an entire lifetime together, I had to say goodbye to Charlie at 13.5 years old. She’s been the biggest part of my life since I got her when I was 17, and everything I did in life was always for both of us. She wasn’t just a dog; she shaped who I am today. I’m beyond grateful for everything we went through together. Saying goodbye is never easy, but I’ll carry her with me forever.

Thank you, Charlie, for everything. You were my soulmate, and you’ll always be a part of me.

Pig

Pig snorted her way into our lives in early December 2011, and for the next 13 and a half years, she brought us infinite joy.

Despite her frequent sass, Pig was a very loving Pug/Frenchie mix. Pig loved walks, tug of war, and any food she could convince people to give her; especially cheese.

More than anything, she loved being cuddled up with her family; Pig and her people were inseparable.

Princess Pig was our family’s first dog, and she left a permanent paw print on our hearts. We will love her and miss her always.

Sassy

Sassy loved her frisbee. She went through so many in her life.
She would love to chase our chickens and also the squirrels around our property.

One of our favourite things to do with Sassy was to go for walks around our property. It was always great quality time spent together. We will miss her so much. She was a wonderful companion and family member.

Sassy

Khloe

Khloe came bounding into our lives and our hearts as a 10-week old energetic pup. She loved being out in the woods with her people. She especially loved playing hide and seek. My husband and I would take turns hiding when Khloe was exploring something with the other one and then we just had to say “where’s mommy?” or “where’s daddy?” and then it was game on! Her ears would perk up and her eyes would go wide and she shot off to the last known spot and start looking for the one hiding. She found us every time!

Khloe was also known as the talking dog. She would welcome you with a polite “Hello” and if you gave her treats she would say “I love you”.

We had Khloe as a joy in our lives for 14 years. She was there when we brought our son home from the hospital and again two years later when we brought our daughter home. She was always gentle and playful with the kids. Our hearts will always miss this very special fur baby. We will always love you, Klo-Klo!!

Mac

I no longer brace when the doorbell rings to prepare myself for your barking.
I won’t be making apologies to guest about the dog hair that glittered on the floor practically daily.
I run my errands a little slower now that I don’t have to rush home to see what trouble and messes you’ve created.
But coming home isn’t the same anymore.

Now there is no giant fluffy tail wagging so sprightly and welcoming.
Now, there is devastating quietness that fills the house everyday.
And laughter and smiles aren’t coming to us easily anymore.
But most of all, I feel the devastating loss of your unconditional love.
I wish I could have spent the rest of my life with you but at least you got to spend your entire life with me.
I miss you baby boy and I know you miss me too.

Don’t worry though, I’m keeping everything you gave me. All the love, all the memories, all the comfort, all the joy and definitely all of your happiness.

Saphira

Our beloved Saphira was a beautiful Great Pyrenes who joined our family at the age of 5 in 2015. She had lived in a barn, had three litters and had never been in a house until then. She learned to navigate stairs but found floors challenging. She did not do well in vehicles and could not walk on the floor at the vet. She loved to be outdoors and would not come when called. She protected her family and loved Collector, one of our cats. She barked when she heard the wind blow through leaves.
As the years passed, she developed mobility issues for which we gave her pain meds and supplements. She was stoic and gentle. At 14, she’d been part of our family for 9 years. The thought of not having her around was difficult to bear but we knew in our hearts it was the loving thing to do.
We were so very fortunate to have Dr. Linda Speizer, of KindHearted Pet Euthanasia, come to our home for Saphira. We were with Saphira as she rumbled and purred her final breaths as she laid in her familiar safe corner in front of our house. Thank you, Dr. Linda, for being there for her and making her passing so peaceful and comfortable. She is now pain free and has joined her friend who passed the same year – we miss them both terribly. Sept 28, 2010 – Oct 23, 2024

Louis

Meet our Bichon, King Louis! He definitely was king of our family.

He was a cottage-loving, squirrel-chasing big boy who loved walks and car rides. He loved treats of all kinds – homemade or store bought and managed to convince many many people to share with him!

He was loved. He is missed.

Good-bye sweet Louis.

Hercules

Hercules was a middle cat. There was a younger, adorable, orange male (who got most of the attention, because he loved attention) and an older cranky cat who had health issues (and so got attention she definitely did not want). So, Herc didn’t get a lot of notice (to be fair, there were other reasons, not the least because his ‘play’ with humans often ended in a ‘playful bite’). He spent much of his day napping in an upstairs spare bedroom, but was active at night when we could hear him and his friend the orange male chasing each other around the house. On warm summer days, Hercules would join the other cats and lounge in the sunroom.

No door was closed for long to Hercules. At first, he would yowl for the door to be opened, but then learned to open doors that had lever handles. Either way, once the door was opened, Herc would enter, then almost immediately leave. Herc was very proud of his long coat and kept it in good condition. He was also a great mouser; before we had the house sealed up tighter, mice would get in once in a while, and Herc was usually the one who tracked it down (sometimes the dog helped out with the actual dispatching). In later years, in the absence of mice, Hercules would find a pen or other small object and, with a low growl, carry it to you for your approval and congratulations.

Life changed for Hercules when his friend the younger cat died suddenly of a stroke. He began to seek human attention more, and more was given. Soon, he was always in your lap or asking to be picked up and cuddled. Herc preferred to rest on your left shoulder, especially if you were stretched out in the easy chair. He took over his friend’s job as official greeter at the front door and welcomed one and all. When the older cat died from health complications, Herc got even more attention and was living life to the fullest. But all things come to an end. Hercules began eating less and less; different foods were offered to no effect. Always thin, Herc had no fat to spare. An array of drugs, SQ treatments helped for a while but advancing liver failure led to a decision to euthanize before there was too much pain. He was a good cat and he’ll be missed.

Buddy Thibodeau ~ The small and mighty king

Written by Aaron Hatty

It is with heavy hearts and a lingering scent of Timbits that we announce the passing of Buddy, aka Budford, aka homeslice, aka home skillet aka Handsome and Smart Boy. Buddy was not just any dog; he was a party dog, a fearless protector, a hater of crows (or as he liked to call them, “fucken birds”). A true gift giver, Buddy loved to bring leaves and driveway rocks in the house (to the chagrin of our bare feet) and he was the ultimate snuggle enthusiast—especially when it came to curling up right next to Mama’s butt.

He will be deeply missed by his mama, dad, and his brother and sister, Tyson and Cole.

A true adventurist, Buddy lived for long walks on New River Beach, trips to Papa’s house, coffee runs (for Timbits, of course), and late nights jamming and bobbing his head to the beat while Dad played guitar. His love of good music and even better company made him a late-night legend in the family. Buddy was also a champion floor cleaner, ensuring no fallen snack went unclaimed.

No season brought him more joy than Christmas. As soon as the stockings came out, Buddy knew one was his, and his excitement was contagious. When stocking time came, he was the happiest, wagging his tail and jumping all around, ready to dive in for Christmas treats.

Not one to shy away from danger, Buddy once chased a bear away from the yard—because no bear was going to mess with his family. His love knew no bounds, except perhaps when it came to one guy. That guy. We don’t know why, but Buddy hated him, and in true family solidarity, we decided to hate him too. So, fuck that guy.

But for all his sass and strength, Buddy was a lover, not just a fighter. He had boundless affection for his family with questionable loyalty depending on who had better snacks and when Meme came to town he would ditch us all in a heartbeat.

His absence leaves a hole in our hearts—and on his favorite chair, where he’d mess up his blankie just right for sleeping.

Buddy, you were truly one of a kind. We will forever miss you and your small but mighty spirit. Until we meet again, sweet boy. Keep dancing and barking at the birds, wherever you are.

Coco

Coco was the most beautiful greyhound I have ever seen. She had her issues, but we loved her all the same. Going to the vet was always traumatic for her, so when the time came, we were SO grateful for Dr. Linda for coming to our home so we could keep Coco relaxed and feeling safe. Coco girl, we are missing you terribly. Run free and fast, sweetie.

Tilley

Tilley passed so peacefully after a long life of service and an equally wonderful retirement. Tilley loved the lake.

Zoomer

This picture was taken last year and is our favorite picture of him. It’s how his eyes stare at us, he looked like he wanted to imprint all of us into him. He was the best and he was our first baby. He’s so smart, knew a lot of tricks – turn, go under, roll, and so many more. He would do anything for a good treat.

He was very respectful with other dogs and he just wanted to be around humans. He loved his brother Turbo and his sister Scar. He loved tug of war but in his version of the game you had to chase him.

He loved going to his grand parents for a sleep over and walked with them in town. Visited the great grandparents’ campers and just loved going out! He loved car rides but did not like the water or getting wet in the rain outside.

We have so many great memories of him and we miss him so much – my son has been sleeping with his blanket.

We will miss Zoomer forever, especially this Christmas as he loves to sit by the Christmas tree and watch the kids open their presents.

Ducky

Ducky was a special little girl right from the get go. Our daughter Megan brought her home just 12 short years ago (unannounced) to our little hobby farm. Ducky was cute as a button and looked like a tiny Shepherd puppy. I thought, oh my, she is going to be a big girl! Little did we know her legs would only grow a few inches and her body would stretch out like a Dachshund! She was the cutest albeit strangest looking girl with the most endearing personality. Her short little corgi legs did not slow her down as she could run like the wind and ALWAYS had a ball in her mouth ready to play.

She gave our family so much joy and the best memories that we will always carry forward! Anyone who met Ducky fell instantly in love with her sweet demeanor as she got along with every person and any dog. She was such a gentle soul and our family will furever miss her.

Until we meet again our sweet Ducky-Do…

💗

Cannelle

Cannelle was more than just a dog; she was a cherished friend, a source of endless joy, and a loyal companion. Her gentle spirit and unwavering sweetness brought light into our lives.
We shared countless moments amidst the tranquility of the woods, whether it was a leisurely walk, an adventurous snowshoe trek, a brisk run, or a serene cross-country ski, Cannelle was always up for the adventure.
Cannelle’s passing was as peaceful as her demeanor, a gentle transition that reflected the compassion and serenity she brought to our lives. Though she may no longer be by our side, her memory lives on in every corner of our hearts.

Cheeto

The first cat to love ME best (most of our pets thought/think my husband is everything they need). He chose me when I first met him as an SPCA patient at the veterinary hospital. He plopped right down, started kneading my arm and purring VERY loud (so loud that I couldn’t hear his heart). He told me that he would like to go home with me and he did.

Cheeto loved to eat, sleep and purr. He would come when called (sounding like an elephant when running down the hall), and he was our official greeter when anyone came to the house.

When he died, there was a big hole in our hearts. He was much loved. – Dr Linda

We store a portion of Cheeto’s ashes in this Keepsake (Heart – Odyssey Pearl 2922H)
